this is indeed a significant day and time in america. it does bring hope and promise for our country and world.

and yet... in the same breath, i hope that our country does not decide this is "enough" or that racial reconciliation has been achieved. there is still more.

so i think, what made your dad act on what he believed in? would i have done the same? how do i follow his lead? what does it look like today?

thanks for sharing his and your stories. what a legacy.

[...] P.S. My friend Makeba, one of the people I admire most, has posted a powerful blog about what this victory means to her. She shares an interesting perspective as her father was a man who worked and marched in the Civil Rights Movement. She has an amazing story to share, so please check it out. [...]

Amazing! Last night was an incredible night and I am deeply grateful to the many people, like your father, who fought so hard to make what happened last night a reality.

I am hopeful and excited that Obama leading our country will ignite much needed change in the country and in individual lives.

Thank you for sharing your dad's story and those pictures!

for the record, i do not think you're a nerd. i'm personally fascinated by what you're studying. so maybe that makes me one too..

how do you like the public policy aspect of social work? tedious or easy for you? i never really got into the little that we studied in my psych classes. hope you're still getting amazing fall weather like we are here! love it.
