Sunset was at 8:08 tonight. I checked out the schedule and every night it sets just a few minutes later. By June it will still be light out at 9 at night.
I love summer nights. Even though I’m not fooled into thinking this weather will stick around, it really did feel like summer today. Every year I feel like I get right on the edge of thinking, “I can’t stand another day of these ugly gray skies.” And just when I’m about to declare my disdain for the northwest, the clouds part, the sun comes out, the skies turn crystal blue and the snow on Mt. Rainier nearly blinds me on my run down Lake Washington. I’m starting to feel like Mt. Rainier is my “personal rainbow”: God’s way of telling me that He’s faithful to bring about new summer days; that the darkness and clouds are not going to last forever.
I do still miss fireflies though. I hope they’re still out when we go back East in September.
